  • Official Language – Hindi


  • Angika - (700,000 speakers). Written in Anga, Kaithi and Devanagari scripts.


  • Bhojpuri - (29,384,562 speakers). Written in the Kaithi and Devanagari scripts

  • Kudmali - (37,000 speakers)


  • Magahi - (11,362,000 speakers). Written in the Kaithi and Devanagari scripts.


  • Maithili - (7,500,000 speakers). Written in the Maithili and Devanagari scripts. This most widely spoken language. Maithili considered to be dialect of Bengali and Hindi. This language is more similar to Bengali. Nowadays Devanagiri script is used for writing Maithili. In 2003 this language has attained the status of independednt language after a big movement making Maithili an official language so that it can be used in schools for education and by the government also.
